   The cartridge assembly was not exactly like the original one removed which had a washer for the entire base of the cartridge but it still fits and works perfectly, no more leaks.

   Finally our 26 year old “pfaucet” cartridge started leaking just a little bit and I installed new Pfister 9740350 Genesis 26 Series Cartridge. Actually it was the separate rubber gasket under the cartridge that caused the leak! It was easy to install the new cartridge, a perfect fit and no more leaks. There is no more separate rubber gasket for the new cartridge – just remove the old gasket. My photos are of the original old cartridge.

   Does this look like the part you just removed from your Pfister faucet? It is! This is a perfect match for my original. You may also want to consider grabbing a pair of square rubber O rings part number 950-910 (the 950-1650 were way too small) to replace those, too, and a brass threaded ring to replace the plastic one that needs a wrench to get out. All of those things combined, and no more leaking from my 15-year old faucet!

    I bought Pfister 9740350 Cartridge Sub Assembly and the metal ring Pfister 9417110 Retainer Nut to replace the cartridge and the plastic ring in my 24 year old Price Pfister bathroom faucet. On the Price Pfister website, my faucet is a 100 Series Single Handle 4″ Centerset Bathroom Faucet Model J13-0MBC. The first picture shows the original plastic ring, cartridge and black rubber ring that I removed from my faucet. Once I removed the handle (I watched a youtube video), it was very simple to install, and it’s working beautifully! I learned a lot from reading the reviews of others so thanks to those that posted! If you install this, be sure to remove the black rubber ring before inserting the cartridge. I have 3 more faucets like this so I’m purchasing a few more cartridges and rings in case they start to leak.

    In the product description, it says that this 974-035 is a replacement for the discontinued 974-570. The older 974-570 is on the left. Note the slightly different shape of the holes. At first, when I installed the new 974-035, it leaked, and I wrote a negative review, now retracted! You have to be careful that the old gasket is fully removed from the faucet with the old cartridge. (The new gasket is the black rubber in the picture on the right.) You also have to fuss with the seating a bit, because of the difference in shape. Also, if you still have the old plastic retaining ring, you probably chewed it up getting the old cartridge out. Get the new brass replacement for the retaining ring (available on pfisteroutlet.com), it makes a big difference.

    Thought we had a leaking cartridge. Turned out the old cartridge was fine and it was some o-rings that needed to be replaced. In any case, this replacement worked great, no problems at all.

    Who knows what cartridge a faucet takes??? I took it apart and the cartridge had a number on it that didn’t cross reference to anything I could find. Just knowing it was a Pfister faucet I started looking at products and reviews. The product images didn’t totally help, but the review and photos from “yagwara” told me this was the one.

    Their advice to get the Get the new brass replacement for the retaining ring was excellent as well.

    It took about five minutes to replace (I already had the water off and it taken apart) and it’s as good as new.
