   it took me forever and a day to find the correct hot/cold cartridges for my tub faucet! I was almost at the point of giving up…but these did the trick! Look at my picture..it shows the old cartridges..the ones I was trying to find replacements for…I want to show them because these new ones do NOT look exactly the same…but they measure up just like the old ones and functioned the same way..so my guess is this is an updated design from the manufacturer. Look up number 910-0300 at Price & Pfister website it will actually show the old style, that is how I got the number and looked it up on pfisteroutlet.com. They have been installed for 5 minutes so far… no problems yet..but in due time if they don’t last then I will provide an update. Cheers!

   Works fine, replacing after 5 years because plastic stop failed which makes the valve stop at the ‘off’ position. Otherwise valve still worked drip free. I am mainly reviewing to add photo’s and show new design. The valve body has been changed significantly but is still a suitable replacement. It is visibly different than the valve that it replaces as some of the brass has been eliminated and replaced with plastic. Since the new plastic section only holds the escutcheon, I don’t see that it is a significant downgrade. There is no functional change however it will require different tools than the original. The old design had brass hex which protruded out from the wall and could easily be removed with 1″ wrench or deep socket, the new design has brass hex flush with the diverter therefore it will probably be recessed in the wall for most installations. Standard 1″ deep-well socket will not reach.

   Don’t worry that this shutoff valve looks different than the original ceramic unit. Pfister changed the design but this unit is the correct numbered replacement. When I first saw this ceramic unit I was puzzled how it works as there didn’t seem to be a valve seat and rubber washer like the traditional valves. No worries. The water flow is controlled by the ceramic valve and works well. You can use a wrench to get the old valve out but will need a plumbers socket to put the new valve in. In order to attach the decorative handle sleeve back on there is a plastic cover that is screwed on (comes with each valve). Also works well. If only one valve is leaking replace both because they are the same age and you already have the tools out! The valve comes to you with “on” counter clockwise. If you are changing out a valve that has “on” clockwise, you just need to take off the white plastic ring on the stem and flip it over. Once you reseat the plastic ring back into the brass slot, you would have changed the direction of the valve. Kind of weird but it works. One word of caution, it is easy to accidentally push the bottom of the valve out and the working parts with it. So be careful as you unpack the valve. Fortunately for me, I had purchased two valves and could learn how to put the messed up valve back together based on the still assembled valve. Not hard in retrospect but it was a learning experience. Sorry to not have taken more pictures.
