   I couldn’t find this piece anywhere else. It arrived on time and fit exactly as expected. This little gem saved me a few hours of work and a couple hundred bucks that I would have had to spend on replacing the faucet set and repairing the wall on the other side of the shower. pfisteroutlet.com delivers another easy win.

   This item is a match for the Pfister Avante that has no screw holes in the face plate. This retainer, or ascussion, has threads that screw into the valve and hold the face plate in place. The trim kit sold at Lowes and Home Depot will not work if your fave plate has no screw holes. You can’t fake it with glue either, the retainer that comes in that kit is a different diameter (smaller). Wait the two days and get this one. This retainer can be screwed in with the long side in or out, depending on your setup. I have one in the shower that goes short end in and one on a standalone tub that is short end out.

   This Retainer sleeve works great in combination with the retro-fit kit and a new face plate kit. What worked for me – The Avante valve in my shower and bath had SHWR 7105 brass valve body in the wall. I needed a new cartridge – then a the retro-fit kit to replace the 27 year old plastic parts (that I broke). The retro-fit kit is not compatible with the old faceplate :(. So I ended up just refurbishing everything.    The images and descriptions are misleading. The length is NOT 2.2inches. More like 1.25inches. The part number on the bag is the same as in the description so I don’t believe it to be a labeling error.

   I ordered it what I thought was brushed nickel, it came chrome. After a more in depth search I wasn’t able to find brushed nickel. I might just have to be ok with the chrome.
