   Valve still allowed water through even when the valve was off. Spent 2 hours trying to resolve the issue and then cleaned and reinstalled the old one and worked. Could have just been this one unit but design changed from the older model.

   This part is designed differently than the original OEM part 900-007 for the 49 series faucet that I purchased in 2006. It however does fit and works as expected but you need to install it differently from what the original instructions indicate. To help others I created a quick tutorial that hopefully saves you some time and frustration.

   contacted pfister for a replacement of the plastic core that had a hairline fracture. Nope, you have to buy the whole damn assembly. unprofessional garbage. This part is CLEARLY a replaceable part that can and will get damaged in time. The ceramic valve is replaceable though, go figure. Time to research a better widespread bathroom sink faucet. I want to avoid pfister if I can. 35 dollars just to replace a 3 inch plastic straw, unbelievable.

   At first I thought I had to change out the entire body, meaning unscrewing the nut from underneath the countertop (and behind the sink). Very painful process! Then I realized I just needed to change the valve itself. For me, the valve handle would spin round and round, not stop at a quarter turn for open/close. So I simply took off the one nut on top, extracted the valve and the broken pieces (see photo) and put the new one in and tightened it down. One nut and WAY easier than replacing the whole thing!

   This worked great as a replacement part for a 13 year old valve assembly (531 Series Petaluma™ 2 Handle Pull-Out Kitchen Faucet). The old hose assembly, part number 951-059, did not work with the new valve, but a new one that I bought recently (same part number) did fit.
